Michael McTeigue and the McTeigue Legacy in Estate Jewelry
The McTeigue name has been linked to fine jewelry since 1895, when Walter P. McTeigue founded a workshop that supplied fine handcrafted pieces and exceptional diamonds to America’s leading jewelers. Over the generations, our family expanded its work with colored stones, design, and manufacturing, becoming a trusted source for retailers and private collectors alike.
Building on this foundation, Michael McTeigue entered the trade in the early 1980s where after working in Geneva with an Estate Jewelry Firm, he began by focusing on larger diamonds and fine colored gemstones. By the 1990s, he returned his attention to estate jewelry, bringing the same discipline and market knowledge to vintage and antique pieces.
Michael has since become a respected authority in the field. He has presented at American Gem Society (AGS) Conclaves and collaborated with prominent firms throughout the industry, helping set standards for quality and authenticity in the estate market.
A Living Heritage
For Michael, an exciting part of his work is coming across jewels crafted by earlier generations of our own family. Many of these pieces—originally designed for Tiffany & Co. and other leading American retailers—surface at auction or in private collections. Michael loves the opportunity to handle these vintage and antique treasures, see the workmanship up close, and, when possible, bring them back into the fold. Each discovery is a reminder of the creativity and skill that shaped the McTeigue legacy, and a chance to keep that history alive for future collectors and generations.
Today, Michael’s work carries that tradition forward, pairing expertise with a commitment to preserving the stories behind fine jewelry and supporting the retailers who work on the frontline of this mission.
